IT Solution Architect, Johannesburg

The Solutions Architect is responsible to design and deliver IT applications solutions to derive business value and in accordance with the application architecture principles.

The solutions architect is responsible for evaluating an organization's business needs and determining how IT can support those needs leveraging software, hardware, or infrastructure

The role is responsible for providing the leadership, facilitation, analysis and design tasks required for the development and improvement of the organisation's application software and architecture. It creates deliverables that help develop target state guidance (reusable standards, guidelines, configurations) for evolving IT solutions, integrations and solutions application architecture across the organization.

The Solutions Architect will be responsible for interfacing with all levels of leadership to identify business opportunities, support strategic projects, and guide long-term technology innovation changes and enabling strategy work.

The solutions architect also bridges communication between IT and business operations to ensure everyone is aligned in developing and implementing technical solutions for business problems. The process requires regular feedback, adjustments, and problem-solving in order to properly design and implement potential solutions.

Value Creation

· Evaluate the business value requirements by consulting closely with internal stakeholders i.e., Business Head, and Operational Managers, SAP Business Analysts, and business leaders

· Develop new IT strategic initiatives and customer relationships while continuing to enhance pre-existing IT initiatives and relationships.

· Understand business drivers and business capabilities (future and current state) and design corresponding IT application solutions and application architecture future state that drives and meets the organisation's targeted business outcomes.

· Define the requirements, principles and models that guide IT application solutions decisions for the organisation based on the business strategy, business capabilities, business requirements and in support of the overall enterprise architecture

· Continuous consulting and analysis to ensure that our business strategy uses proper technology systems architecture to achieve their strategic objectives

Solutions architecture conceptualisation and design

· Lead the development of the design and architecture of all new IT application solutions.

· Lead brainstorming sessions to develop potential solutions for business needs or problems

· Analyse requirements, design, develop and deliver documentation deliverables of solutions lifecycle such as design, process, policy, techniques, tactics, and procedures in a timely manner

· Conceptualise and articulate solution designs in relation to specific business value propositions and architectural standards and guidelines including but not limited to the following categories:

· Operations optimisation

· User interfaces

· Integration with other systems

· Data Management

· Infrastructure and Cloud services

· Safety and Security

· Compliance

· Reliability

· Business continuity

· Facilitate the creation of a delivery roadmap and work breakdown structure to help the team with the most efficient delivery pipeline

· Analyse requirements, design, develop and deliver documentation deliverables of solutions lifecycle such as design, process, policy, techniques, tactics, and procedures in a timely manner

· Research and analyse new technology trends and analyse how these can be used to support business initiatives

Product architectural health

· Monitor and report on the health of the overall architecture as implemented throughout product delivery from inception through to production operations.

· Identify architectural and implementation risks and advise on the implementation of corrective actions where risks are detected

· Monitor the current IT application solutions portfolio to identify deficiencies through the aging of the technologies or misalignment with business requirements and recommend appropriate changes, where required

Product design and solutions compliances

· Facilitate the evaluation and selection of software product standards and services, as well as the design of standard and custom software configurations.

· Work with product and delivery teams to develop scalable solutions and products

· Assisting with the adoption of a Lean / Agile development mind-set.

· Drive compliance with the IT solutions development standards and configurations
