Position Summary and Objective
The individual will be responsible for:
Developing marketing strategies and implementation thereof which focuses resources on maximizing market share and operating profitability of key strategic product portfolios,
Market research, gap analysis, identifying business opportunities and doing product feasibility studies and outcomes
Ensure brand profitability through knowledge and management of product, price, promotion, place, and costs
Coaching and development of marketing department managers
Negotiations and partnerships with Key Opinion Leaders, Societies, Organizations, Funders, and Administrators
Work closely with Business Development, and guide the short, mid and long-term product and portfolio strategic direction for the Company
Strong leadership to drive the marketing team to deliver on marketing objectives
Minimum Requirements
Education
Appropriate Medical or Pharmaceutical qualification
Appropriate Business and/or Marketing Degree/Diploma
Experience
Minimum 4-5 years proven senior management experience in a marketing role with at least 2 years as the Head of Marketing
Experience and a proven track record in a sales role will be an advantage
Good knowledge and experience of core marketing, including but not limited to sales, key accounts, business development, regulatory, legal, medical, training, supply chain, finance, people management
Primary Responsibilities
Leadership: Lead and develop the marketing team to enable them to develop and implement the best possible marketing campaigns for the Company, while maintaining full marketing management responsibility for all marketing portfolios and departments
Marketing Plans: Develop annual marketing plans with full accountability for the full promotional mix for health care professionals. Play a major role in the strategic development and preparation of Portfolio and Product Business Plans
Advertising Agency Briefs: Work closely with advertising agencies and ensure delivery of strong marketing campaigns and deliverables to each marketing sub-division
Strategy Implementation: Accountable for the execution of brand healthcare campaigns & corporate campaign
BI & Market Research: Gather & analyse market data in order to understand industry & therapy area trends. Develop dashboards to evaluate Company performance vs competition. Conduct market research with help of medical & sales departments for in-depth understanding of disease area, new product launch, the customer/patient relationship or the brand.
Financial : Ensure delivery of brand financial goals through detailed analysis and understanding of short-term & long-term brand performances, with special emphasis on marketing program effectiveness and drivers of the business model.
New Product Launches: Managing the product launch process through effective resource allocation, maximizing product life cycles and ensuring portfolio optimization in line with the defined business strategy and plans
New Business Development: Work closely with Business Development with Gap Analysis in the current Company product portfolio and identify new business opportunities.
Funders and Administrators: Work closely with Market Access and strengthen relationships with relevant MHC companies and negotiate support on new product launches where relevant
Optimize Cross-Functional Support: Ensure effective communication and collaboration across, Sales, Medical, Regulatory, Finance, Supply Chain, Quality, Legal, HR
Systems and Procedures: Establish appropriate marketing systems and procedures to ensure efficient operations and appropriate control, based on quality and commitment to deliver on-time
Plan and control local Marketing expenditure: control expenditure according to product & portfolio priorities, ensuring cost-efficiency always and focus on advertising and promotion and other controllable expenses.
Direct and manage all activities of the Marketing team: ensuring that staff are properly coached, given the opportunity to develop and be continually motivated to handle the demands of their jobs and achieve their objectives.
Key Knowledge and Skills required
Will need a thorough knowledge of the South Africa pharmaceutical industry
Will need good sales and marketing skills, strong analytical and interpretive skills, and good coaching skills
Strong personality with excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills
Advanced Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills
Must have the ability to communicate at across different management levels
Strong level of urgency and results-orientated
Good presentation skills are a requirement
A good understanding of financial management
Strong leadership Skills.
Able to lead by example and foster professionalism in the team through consistent and effective coaching; demonstrates strong training and facilitation skills
Quick to analyze and take action without compromising quality; utilizes effective negotiation skills whilst challenging the status quo
Ability to constantly self-challenge and challenge others in a constructive way
Shows integrity, tenacity, resilience, and adaptability in complex situations and an often- changing environment; is able to handle pressure and commit to and respect deadlines
