A global exhibition and conference company that produce industry specific conferences and build massive exhibitions around them require a Junior Marketing Manager to assist Marketing Managers to cost-effectively and creatively market events to standard and deadline – in order to optimise delegate, sponsor, exhibitor and visitor numbers/revenue and ultimately achieve the organisation's objectives.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Marketing Degree

 

Duties and Responsibilities and Performance Outcomes:

  1. Research and analysis for each event – Assist MM to undertake national/global market research to ensure the best quality marketing profiles, marketing channels and strategies
  • Research and compile accurate and comprehensive target market profiles
  • Produce full competitor event analyses
  • Compile an in-depth review of past campaigns and response rates
  • Identify appropriate external marketing channels – publications, associations, websites
  • Bring details of 5 competitor events globally and 5 industry articles to all project brainstorms

 

  1. Manage and grow the database – Assist MM to ensure targeted research and other data build for your events is strategically correct and on time
  • Make selections from the database
  • Monitor and support list researchers' performance and database growth
  • Monitor List Track
  • Analyse database performance and improve weak areas - source two prospect lists per month/3000 contacts

 

  1. Creative and strategic marketing – Assist MM in using marketing briefs from conference managers to brainstorm, create and implement integrated marketing plans and budgets
  • Devise and manage design and advertising concepts
  • Edit, write and proof copy
  • Innovate standard marketing campaigns and mailing piece formats
  • Run PR campaigns - at least 1 published PR article per event
  • Conference ROI of 3

 

  1. Budgeting, cost control and supplier management – Assist MM to create and adhere to marketing budgets and always work to minimize costs
  • Develop and implement event marketing plans within specified budget
  • Write and monitor marketing budgets
  • Manage suppliers and minimise marketing costs

 

  1. Business development, joint promotions and sponsor marketing – Develop, make the most of and nurture relationships with event marketing partners
  • Negotiate and fulfil OP and association contra deals; minimum 2 OPs per event
  • Develop relationships with OP's, sponsors, endorsers and exhibitors
  • Continuously generate exhibition sales leads
  • Acquire 500 names from sponsors
  • Produce a sponsor marketing manual for level 2/3 events and assist with sponsor branding at events
  • Use sponsors' marketing channels (web, newsletters, databases)
  • Manage or create the official catalogue at exhibitions

 

  1. Manage and delegate sales – Assist MM to work closely with the delegate sales manager to ensure marketing and delegate sales are working optimally together for your events
  • Coordinate the calling schedule with delegate sales managers
  • Thoroughly brief delegate salespeople with the conference manager
  • Follow up status of campaigns weekly and act on feedback from delegate sales

 

  1. Traffic management and fulfilment – Assist MM to ensure design, print and mailing fulfilment run smoothly and on time and that mailing pieces are of the highest quality
  • Achieve final copy to mail date within 7 working days
  • Achieve 16 weeks lead time average for conference promotion
  • A minimum of 3 mailings
  • Meet all promotion deadlines as per event business plans

 

  1. Internet strategy – Assist MM to fully utilize the marketing opportunities presented by the internet.
  • Set up/maintain and develop websites; websites up within 1 week of business plans and update weekly
  • Source and manage Internet links and content
  • Promote the organisation and their events via their portals, emails and e-newsletters as well as through external sites
  • Run a search marketing campaign for each event
