Technician Supervisor – Engineering Services Cape Town, Johannesburg

A leading engineering services provider is seeking a skilled Technician Supervisor to join its dynamic team based in Cape Town. This role will oversee and manage all engineering operations and projects across the Western and Eastern Cape regions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the effective operation of the Engineering Services Department (maintenance and projects) in alignment with company standards and legal compliance.

• Supervise and implement a comprehensive maintenance program ensuring maximum efficiency and minimal downtime.

• Oversee major equipment refurbishment projects to optimise existing assets and reduce operating costs.

• Coordinate training and upskilling of team members and contractors.

• Lead and manage multiple project workstreams simultaneously.

• Ensure high-quality workmanship for all on-site installations and maintenance by contractors and internal teams.

• Oversee SHERQ (Safety, Health, Environment, Risk, and Quality) compliance across the region.

• Maintain and promote the highest level of safety for personnel and equipment at all times.

Minimum Requirements:

• Matric (Grade 12) with Mathematics, Science, and English.

• N6 or National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.

• Trade Test qualification in a relevant engineering discipline.

• Basic Business Management certification.

• SACGA registration as a gas installer is advantageous.

• Minimum of 10 years' experience in a heavy engineering or production environment (Gas or related industry).

• At least 5 years in a supervisory role with proven experience managing Technicians, Artisans, and Contractors.

• Demonstrated ability to foster knowledge-sharing and collaboration within cross-functional teams.

• Experience interacting with various customer and supplier levels.

• Solid knowledge of SHERQ systems and ISO standards.

• Excellent organisational, planning, verbal, and written communication skills.

• Medically fit to work at heights.

• Valid unendorsed Code 08 driver's licence and reliable vehicle.

• Willingness to work overtime and travel when required.

• Proficient in MS Office Suite for effective reporting and analysis.
