About the Role
We are looking for an
Intermediate Chemical Engineer
to support a range of engineering initiatives within the
power and energy sector , including
electricity generation, transmission, distribution, and trading . This role is ideal for an engineer with 8 + years of relevant experience , ready to contribute to projects that improve efficiency, system integration, and sustainability across complex energy operations. This is a high-impact opportunity to work on both
traditional and modern energy systems , contributing to the future of infrastructure,
smart grid optimization , and
regulatory compliance
in the energy industry. Key Responsibilities
Support
process optimization projects
across power generation facilities and transmission/distribution networks Analyze and improve
system performance
using engineering principles and data-driven insights Collaborate with plant operators, engineers, and project managers on
operational improvement initiatives Assist with
digital transformation projects , including the implementation of monitoring systems and automation tools Contribute to
continuous improvement
efforts in safety, cost-efficiency, and energy utilization Participate in
load planning ,
capacity management , and
outage scheduling Develop and maintain documentation related to
processes, technical standards , and
compliance requirements Support
feasibility studies
for infrastructure upgrades and renewable energy integration Assist in
energy trading support activities
(e.g., process modelling, pricing simulations, reporting) Requirements
Bachelors Degree
in
Chemical Engineering ,
Industrial Engineering , or a related field Certification
in
ECSA
(Engineering Council of South Africa) or equivalent 8+ years
of engineering experience in the
power, utilities , or
energy sectors Solid understanding of
generation systems ,
grid operations , or
energy trading workflows Familiarity with
SCADA ,
PLC/DCS , and
digital monitoring platforms
is advantageous Skilled in using
data analysis and modeling tools
(e.g., Python, MATLAB, Excel, Power BI) Experience working in
regulated environments
with a focus on
safety, compliance , and
documentation Ability to
contribute to project workstreams
and collaborate with senior engineers Strong
written and verbal communication
skills Comfortable working both
independently
and within
cross-functional teams Duration:
12 months (renewable based on project scope and performance) Working Hours:
Full-time, Monday to Friday Salary Range:
Market-related / Competitive based on experience
