Senior Electrical Engineer, Johannesburg

The Senior Electrical Engineer role is responsible for delivering a full consulting electrical engineering service across the complete project lifecycle within the building services and industrial environment. This includes the design, coordination, and implementation of MV and LV reticulation, power and lighting systems, single line diagrams, standby power solutions such as generators and UPS, fire detection and evacuation systems, as well as data, CCTV, access control, intruder alarm, and building management systems.

Qualifications and Requirements:

BSc Eng. or BTech in Electrical Engineering

Professional registration with ECSA advantageous (or working towards registration)

Minimum of 7 years’ consulting engineering experience within building services and/or industrial environments

Strong knowledge of SANS 10142‑1&2, SANS 10400, SANS 204, and other relevant standards

Experience with building services contracts such as JBCC, NEC, and FIDIC

Proven capability in MV and LV reticulation design and standby power systems, including synchronisation and load calculations

Exposure to renewable energy systems

Experience with Autodesk BIM software (Revit, Navisworks, etc.) and electrical design software such as Relux/Dialux, Ecodial, CBi, or ETAP

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail

Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and take ownership of designs and projects

Valid driver’s license and own transport

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare accurate and detailed

engineering designs, calculations, budgets, and tender documentation

in line with project and client requirements.

Manage

professional fees

and maintain strong

project financial control , including forecasting, WIP management, and invoicing.

Provide diligent

construction monitoring

and full

electrical project management

from project inception through to close‑out.

Collaborate closely with

multidisciplinary engineering teams , actively participating in design coordination and integrated project delivery.

Manage projects

independently with minimal senior input , ensuring quality, compliance, and adherence to programme timelines.

Maintain a strong focus on

client care , professional team coordination, and

on‑time delivery

of all project milestones.

Contribute to

business development

through client engagement, networking, and marketing initiatives to secure repeat work and develop a sustainable client base.

Prepare and manage

fee proposals and contractual agreements

with clients and professional partners.
