Brightsmith is supporting a leading international renewable energy technology company in the search for a Team Service Lead to establish and lead its regional service organisation in South Africa. The role focuses on ensuring the reliable operation and long-term performance of hybrid renewable energy and battery storage systems across Sub‑Saharan Africa. This role offers the chance to build and lead a regional service function from the ground up while supporting advanced hybrid renewable energy projects across Africa. It combines hands‑on technical leadership with operational responsibility and provides a high level of autonomy from the outset. The successful candidate will work closely with international engineering teams while playing a key role in ensuring long‑term system performance and customer satisfaction across multiple projects.Establish and lead the regional service department in Johannesburg, coordinating service operations for hybrid renewable and battery storage systems across Sub‑Saharan Africa. Plan and manage on‑site interventions including preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, commissioning support, and warranty activities while ensuring systems operate in line with service standards.Act as the primary technical contact for regional customers, overseeing service agreements, coordinating technical support, and managing spare parts logistics and service quotations. Implement service processes, reporting, and documentation systems to monitor performance, improve response times, and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.Develop and manage a network of service partners while building and mentoring a small regional team of service engineers and technicians. Who We’re Looking For

Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Renewable Energy Systems, or equivalent practical experience. Experience in service, commissioning, or operations and maintenance of solar PV, hybrid power, or energy storage systems. Strong technical knowledge of power electronics, including inverters, power conversion systems, and transformers, along with familiarity with SCADA, EMS, PLCs, or industrial control environments.Experience coordinating field teams or multi‑site service operations, with strong troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis skills. Willingness to travel across Sub‑Saharan Africa as required. Location and Package

This role is based in Johannesburg, South Africa, with a hybrid working model available depending on operational requirements. Travel across Sub‑Saharan Africa of up to approximately 40% may be required. A competitive compensation package and standard work equipment are provided.
