Platform Tech Lead, Johannesburg

A leading financial services organisation is seeking an experienced Platform Tech Lead to provide senior technical leadership across a complex intermediary digital platform environment supporting multiple business units and customer journeys.

This role is ideal for a senior technology leader with strong architectural credibility, enterprise-scale delivery experience, and the ability to influence across multiple engineering teams and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and drive the technical strategy and roadmap for the intermediary platform.
• Lead architectural decisions across multiple systems and engineering teams.
• Partner with Product, Design and senior business stakeholders to deliver scalable digital solutions.
• Lead large-scale platform modernisation and technical transformation initiatives.
• Establish engineering standards, governance and operational best practices.
• Drive delivery alignment, risk management and engineering effectiveness across teams.
• Mentor Tech Leads and senior engineers while building a strong engineering culture.
• Ensure high standards of reliability, resilience, security and operational excellence.

Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field.
• 12–15+ years of software engineering experience.
• Significant experience in senior technical leadership or engineering management roles.
• Proven experience leading multiple engineering teams or enterprise-scale technical domains.
• Strong architectural and systems design expertise.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Experience driving large-scale technical change and organisational transformation.
• Strong strategic thinking and delivery capability.
