LEAD PROCESS ENGINEER - JOHANNESBURG

The main purpose of the role:

The Lead Process Engineer reviews client scope, technical information, and communications to determine how the organisation can develop and deliver effective process solutions. Once projects are awarded, they establish and manage workstreams, including test work, data analysis, and solution development through an auditable process, ensuring accurate documentation and communication across disciplines. The role supports various project stages, including PEA, prefeasibility, feasibility, execution, debottlenecking, and problem-solving projects across multiple minerals, metals, and processing technologies, from raw ore treatment to refining and recycling. Exposure to a broad range of metallurgical and pyrometallurgical processes is advantageous, although ongoing development in unfamiliar areas is expected.
The position requires strong communication, report writing, mathematical simulation, and process design skills, as well as the ability to manage budgets, timelines, scope changes, and stakeholder expectations effectively. The engineer must collaborate closely with team members, contribute to knowledge sharing, and uphold high-quality standards through thorough review processes. The role may require local and international travel for investigations, troubleshooting, and commissioning activities. The Process Engineer is responsible for ensuring that test work, design documentation, and reports are delivered accurately, professionally, and within organisational standards and deadlines.
 
Requirements:

• Proven operational and/ or process Design experience
• BSc Chemical Engineering
• Preferably to be a member of ECSA, SAIMM or other accredited organisation.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.CAD design skills could be advantageous.
• Preferably knowledge of process simulation software (advantageous)
• Hydrometallurgy experience is advantageous
• Proven ability to work as a team with interpersonal skills, but self-motivated/ disciplined to deliver product.
• Ability to perform reasonable travel outside of the office to attend meetings, testwork, analysis or construction/ commissioning assistance within South Africa and beyond as and when required.
• Motivated to complete work timeously.
• Preferably 3+ years at a senior design level, depending on experience
