A leading organisation is seeking a Senior Principal Auditor to join its Johannesburg-based audit team. This opportunity is ideal for a seasoned professional who thrives in complex banking and financial services environments and is passionate about delivering high-impact audits across multiple business functions and regions. The successful candidate will play a key role in leading independent audit activities, engaging with senior stakeholders, and ensuring the effectiveness of internal controls across diverse operations.

Responsibilities:

Lead and execute complex audits across various business and functional areas. Act as a trusted advisor and relationship manager to senior country management. Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls and risk management processes. Prepare and reconcile audit findings and reports in line with audit methodology standards. Conduct audit fieldwork including process analysis, risk identification, and control testing. Challenge and support stakeholders in developing effective remediation plans. Ensure compliance with local regulatory requirements relating to the Internal Audit Function. Collaborate with global audit teams and subject matter experts across international markets

Requirements:

Minimum of 7 years’ professional audit experience within banking or financial services. Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks, risk management, and audit methodologies. Experience within areas such as Investment Banking, Corporate Banking, Transaction Banking, Risk, Compliance, Finance, Operations, or Information Technology. Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Economics, Science, or a related field. Professional qualifications such as CIA, CISA, ACA, or CPA will be advantageous. Excellent analytical, communication, stakeholder management, and presentation skills. Ability to work effectively within global and matrix-driven environments. Willingness to travel occasionally within the Middle East and Africa region.
