FULL-TIME SCHOOL NURSE / CLINICAL ASSOCIATE, Johannesburg

Full‑Time School Nurse / Clinical Associate Jeppe High School for Boys – Johannesburg, Gauteng.

Beginning Term 3, 2026 (or earlier by arrangement). Full‑time School Governing Body post with benefits including pension and school holidays.

General Requirements

Relevant qualification in Nursing (Registered Nurse) or as a Clinical Associate.

Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) or the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).

Proven experience in a clinical or school environment.

Advanced proficiency in the management of sports‑related injuries, with specific experience in rugby‑related trauma/injuries as an advantage.

First Aid Level 3 or higher, with the ability/qualification to facilitate First Aid education and courses.

Key Responsibilities

Primary Healthcare : Receive and assess sick pupils and staff; provide medical advice, issue appropriate medication, and refer to external medical professionals when necessary.

Clinical Decision Making : Determine the fitness of learners or staff to remain at school or be sent home due to illness or injury.

Records&Communication : Maintain accurate medical records and ensure proactive communication regarding illness and outcomes with parents and relevant staff members.

Educational Leadership : Lead the student First Aid team, provide consistent education, facilitate certified courses, and supervise student first‑aiders on duty.

Sports Medicine Support : Provide high‑level support to paramedics during school sports fixtures, ensuring seamless emergency care for athletes.

Resource Management : Manage medical budget, procurement of supplies, and medication stock.

Staff Wellness : Provide medical assistance to staff, including coordination and administration of seasonal vaccines (e.g., Flu/Hep B).

General Duties : Any other duties appropriate to the role of a School Nurse or Clinical Associate as requested by the School Executive.

Ability to work independently in a clinical setting while functioning as a proactive member of the sports department team.

Strong work ethic and performance under pressure during high‑stakes sports fixtures.
