✈️ Role overview Join as a professional First Officer operating in a multi‑crew environment across domestic and international routes. Aircraft are assigned by seniority, and no type rating is required — comprehensive training is provided. You will uphold the highest safety, compliance, andoperational standards in alignment with CAA, ICAO, IATA, FAA, and EASA requirements.

Minimum flight time&licensing

Total time: 1500 hours

Multi‑engine: 200 hours

License required: Frozen ATPL with MEIR (SACAA)

Medical: Class 1

ICAO English: Level 4 minimum

Passport: Valid, for international operations

A valid ATPL with multi‑engine instrument rating must be obtained within 4 years from the date of employment with SAA.

Education&academic requirements SAQA‑accredited schooling or tertiary studies with the following:

Minimum: Matric Certificate / Grade 12 results / N3 or relevant tertiary qualification (SAQA accredited)

Compulsory subjects: Mathematics or Statistics 101, and English (D symbol on higher grade or C symbol on standard grade)

Plus one of: Physical Science or Computer Science (D symbol on higher grade or C symbol on standard grade)

Knowledge, skills&attributes

Proven application of safety standards and safe operating practices

Detailed knowledge of national and international aviation regulations (CAA, ICAO, IATA, FAA, EASA)

Strong understanding of international travel, customs and practices

Knowledge of legal regulations for the piloting/aviation profession within South African and international environments

Business communication skills (verbal and written)

Ability to work under pressure; organisational resilience with a change management focus
