Manager: Product Designer, Johannesburg

The Product Designer’s role is to support the Product Design team in affirming that current experience design solutions align with future use cases, consistent with identified scalability needs.

You will be responsible for:

Operational Delivery

Senior and strong in both UX/UI

Must have experience working with design systems

Have a strong drive to provide superior consumer service and to improve the customer experience.

Must create clean and artful designs.

Translate high-level requirements into interaction flows and artifacts.

Transform designs into attractive, intuitive, and functional user interfaces.

Collaborate with product management and engineering to define and implement innovative solutions for the product direction, visuals, and experience.

Execute all visual design stages from concept to final hand‑off to engineering.

Conceptualize original ideas that bring simplicity and user friendliness to complex design roadblocks.

Create storyboards, process flows, user journeys and prototyping to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas.

Must have experience in Requirements Gathering and Management

Present and defend designs and key milestone deliverables to peers and stakeholders.

Keep up to date with global UI design trends

Establish and promote design guidelines, best practices, and standards.

Familiarity with and expertise working with Figma is required.

Governance Operational, Tactical and Strategic Meetings

Participate in strategic meetings, provide relevant inputs and guidance in the various discussions where required

Solicit feedback and input from Opco Fintech

Provide inputs into risk mitigation and controls

Provide inputs into planning and budgeting

Escalations

Escalate issues that will result in severe time, scope, productivity, and cost or resource impact

Manage and provide solutions to escalations that have multiple processes / functions impact on critical path of service delivery

Function Tactical

Contribute to the development of objectives, targets and budgets for the Platforms and Partnerships&Payments Function as applicable

Review key risks, issues and dependencies and set mitigation actions

Develop and manage budgets where applicable

Sign‑off / make decisions and/or facilitate decisions&sign offs where applicable regarding tactical changes

Provide input into all projects initiated

Participate in tactical meetings

Performance

Monitor performance and ensure execution in alignment with Divisional strategy

Ensure alignment between other functions within Group Fintech and Opco teams

Continuous performance monitoring and adjust strategy and actions to deliver targets

Reporting

Report monthly to the management on progress made within the function and in accordance with the organization’s measurement metrics based on roadmap from both implementation, and performance perspectives

Report on an ad‑hoc basis on specific management requirements as and when necessary

Budgets

Manage functional budgets in line with overall budget and business objectives

Manage project initiative budgets in line with business objectives

Support the reduction of cost of operations, in line with a least cost operating strategy stemming from the business drivers

First Degree Information Studies

Psychology degree

Certifications: CUA/CXA

Experience

Minimum Experience 4-7 years demonstrated workplace experience within the area of specialization with evidence of contribution to the experience design practice. At least 3 years’ experience within a Payments ecosystem

Team Management of different stakeholders across different verticals in African markets

Prior experience in Product Development&Implementation in a Fintech Company preferred.

Experience at the management level in the financial sector

Experience working in a medium to large organization.

Deep understanding of the Fintech ecosystem, players, business models and industry related best practices

Experience working across global locations/ regions and have a grasp of political, social, infrastructure and integrity challenges.

Willing and flexible to travel within Africa and Middle East

English speaker. French language being an added advantage.

Good understanding of Product Development/ Commercial/ Sales&Marketing principles and applications
