Job Description

The Senior Relationship Manager is a senior-level position responsible for assisting clients in raising funds in the capital markets and providing strategic advisory services for mergers, acquisitions, and other financial transactions in coordination with the Institutional Banking team. The role also serves as an intermediary in trading for clients and acts as a strategic advisor by formulating investment strategies and raising capital.

Responsibilities

Expand a local and regional portfolio of accounts on Chinese parented multinational corporate clients, with varying/complex financial needs, to achieve revenue growth and maintain good credit quality in line with Citi’s credit standards, policies and processes.

Nurture existing client relationships to become a trusted advisor, engaging in strategic dialogue with clients’ senior management and opening access to the highest levels of their organization.

Identify customer needs and recommend solutions to address them, such as financing, cash‑management streamlining, foreign currency solutions, etc.

Cross‑sell banking products, including cash management, trade finance, trade services, structured trade products, foreign exchange, commodities, fixed income, loans (including syndicated and bilateral) and capital‑market products.

Handle all credit aspects of the relationship, including annual reviews, early problem recognition and remedial management.

Appropriately assess risk when making business decisions, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, policies, and ethical standards.

Deliver the annual budgeted revenue growth developed in agreement with product partners, driving specific initiatives as required.

Coordinate with China PAM and assist the local country SAM bankers in identifying clients’ needs.

Implement calling plans to pursue business development across the client base, becoming the designated contact for selected multinational clients who frequently use our global network.

Manage delivery of Citi’s global network, providing consistent coverage to multinational corporate clients and ensuring product partner connectivity.

Maximize deal origination and replication around network solutions, acting as a link between local coverage and product organizations to provide holistic service to clients.

Focus on the China–MEA corridor to drive the China Desk portfolio with agreed growth targets.

Work with product partners to define future vision, trends and direction for each product within coverage, fostering innovation and ensuring team alignment.

Ensure full compliance with internal and regulatory policies on risk, control, Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti‑Money Laundering (AML), maintaining the highest standards of ethics, control and risk management.

Qualifications

6‑10 years of experience.

Comprehensive knowledge of credit analytics and financial modelling.

Proven expertise in risk assessment and valuation.

Fluent in both spoken and written Mandarin and English.

Education

Bachelor’s degree, university degree, or equivalent experience.

Master’s degree is preferred.
