Doornfontein, Johannesburg . A Two-Year Placement Focused on Audit and Oversight
Unlike short-term graduate placements, the SADPMR internship runs over
two years , giving participants extended exposure to internal audit operations within a national regulator. The programme is housed within the
Internal Audit division
and is designed to prepare graduates for professional roles in auditing, governance, and public-sector accountability. Interns will work alongside experienced audit and governance professionals, gaining practical exposure to internal audit methodologies, risk assessments, compliance frameworks, and regulatory processes. According to the regulator, the structure mirrors real audit environments rather than observational training.What Interns Will Be Exposed To
The programme places interns directly within core audit activities. This includes supporting the annual audit plan, assisting with risk assessments, participating in audit fieldwork, and preparing working papers and audit documentation. Interns will also be involved in drafting audit findings, tracking corrective actions, and maintaining audit records.The regulator says this exposure is intended to build technical competence, professional discipline, and an understanding of governance standards that apply within South Africa’s public sector. The internship is open to
South African citizens between the ages of 18 and 35
who are currently unemployed. Applicants must have completed a
National Diploma, BCom, or Degree
at
NQF Level 6 or higher
in fields such as Internal Auditing, Auditing, Accounting, Risk Management, or a closely related qualification. In addition to academic requirements, SADPMR is looking for candidates with strong analytical skills, attention to detail, good communication ability, and an interest in ethics, integrity, and governance. Computer literacy and the ability to work both independently and within a team are listed as essential.Location, Duration, and Support
The internship is based in
Doornfontein, Johannesburg , and includes a
monthly stipend
