HV Substation Design Engineer, Johannesburg

Our client is in a growth phase within the energy transition and is working on the expansion and modernization of high‑voltage substations throughout the Netherlands. The biggest challenge? Translating complex functional requirements into feasible designs that meet strict safety and reliability requirements, all within a rapidly changing market.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Technology, or a similar field.

At least 3 years of experience in designing high‑voltage systems.

Experience with secondary systems such as control, monitoring, and protection.

Familiarity with Systems Engineering and project‑based working.

Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with both internal and external engineers.

Responsibilities

Design primary and/or secondary systems for high‑voltage substations (expansion, renovation, new build).

Translate functional designs into executable project plans.

Prepare technical documentation and detailed engineering designs.

Monitor schedules and coordinate engineering teams.

Perform quality controls and manage project documentation.
