Junior Estimator, Johannesburg

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or similar
• Relevant technical certificate (N6 or higher) may be considered

Experience

• 1–3 years in a construction estimating or QS environment
• Exposure to tendering and BOQ preparation advantageous
• Site experience a bonus

Technical Skills

• Proficient in MS Excel
• Familiarity with estimating software (CCS Candy, BuildSmart, or similar)
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications
• Basic understanding of construction methods and materials

Soft Skills

• Attention to detail
• Numerically strong
• Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Good written and verbal communication
• Team player willing to learn

Key Tasks

• Assisting senior estimators with tender pricing
• Compiling BOQs and material take-offs
• Requesting and comparing supplier/subcontractor quotes
• Updating pricing databases
• Supporting bid submissions
