Senior Logistics Engineer, Kempton Park

Purpose of The Role:

• Designing, planning and implementing logistics solutions, whilst managing stakeholder (internal & external) expectations throughout the solution design and implementation phase.
• Supporting the company objectives of improving customer service, reducing operational costs and driving operational excellence within the business.
• Proactively identifying opportunities, developing solution design approaches, getting buy-in from stakeholders and implementing solutions.
• Driving continuous improvement and innovation with a robust engineering approach (Big Data, Analytics, Simulation etc).

The role will form part of the Organization's Road Logistics Continuous Improvement Team and the successful candidate will work in a dynamic team with great growth opportunities. 

Qualifications:

• BEng Industrial and Systems Engineering 

Computer Literacy Level : Advanced

Additional Computer Skills:

• PYTHON, R
• Tableau / Power BI
• Simulation Modelling (Flexsim, AnyLogic etc)
• SQL Advanced
• TMS (Transport Management System)

Job-related Requirements

• Industrial Engineering experience: > 4 years in the logistics Industry.
• SIGMA experience: > 4 years in the Logistics Industry.
• Leadership experience in Project or Operations role: > 2 years with effective staff performance management & development.
• Detail oriented, high work rate & quality of work;
• TMS Systems Skills and experience: > 3 years

Other Minimum Requirements:

• Good understanding of transportation & last mile delivery logistics.
• Good understanding of route optimization principles (TSP’s, VRP’s etc.).
• General business acumen and sound knowledge of procurement principles, engineering economics and fundamental accounting principles.
• Application Engineering (TMS System)
• Supply Chain and Network Optimization and Planning
• Applied negotiation skills
• Applied risk management skills
• Supply Chain Management accreditation such as CSCP, SCOR-P, etc.
• Sigma Accreditation
• Project Management accreditation such as Prince2 or PMP

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Continuous Improvement Management: Manage and Report on Cost Saving and Sigma Initiatives
• SIGMA: Identify and Implement SIGMA Initiatives
• Engineered Solutions: Identify, analyse & develop value-adding solutions for current & prospective clients;
• Tools: Application of the following tools and/or methodologies as appropriate and when required:
  • Big data analysis
  • Simulation Modelling
  • Linear Programming
• Mentorship: As a Senior Logistics engineer the role will involve mentoring and guiding junior colleagues.
• Sales Support: Assist with ‘technical selling’ to clients and with the development & documenting of proposals, response to tenders, RFQs & RFPs;
• Analysis and recommendations:
  • 1) Data (analysis, comparison, sense checking),
  • 2) Processes (supporting business objectives, complete, accurate, relevant, error proofed, common exceptions covered, measurable),
  • 3) Facilities (best practices, flow, flexibility, compliance);
• Business cases / feasibility studies: Develop as required depending on financial investment required and risk profile.
• Tools and aspects to consider include ROI calculations, quantified value, opportunity for productivity improvements and future growth / revenue potential
• Group Facilitation: Leading & influencing a diverse group through planning and/or problem solving activities as required, including Advance Quality Planning (AQP) sessions;
• Business Support:
  • 1) Provide input to annual Solutions Business Plan and Strategy Development,
  • 2) Obtain update on performance against plan quarterly, to ensure focused activities are always supporting business objectives;
• Travel: Reasonable local travel requirement to use knowledge, skills and experience in support of relevant organizational business objectives
