MAIN PURPOSE We are seeking an experienced
Engineering Project Manager
to lead and deliver engineering development, installation, and service‑related projects across Africa and selected international markets.
This role is responsible for
end-to-end project management of engineering and product development initiatives , ensuring alignment with business strategy, effective execution, and successful delivery from concept through to commissioning and ongoing support. The incumbent will play a key leadership role in coordinating cross‑functional teams, managing risks, and driving innovation within the organisation’s engineering portfolio.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Project&Programme Management
Manage and deliver multiple engineering, mining, and technical projects across Africa and international markets
Plan, execute, monitor, and close projects, including scheduling, budgeting, scope, and resource allocation
Develop and maintain detailed project work plans and revise as required
Monitor project performance (cost, schedule, scope, risk and decisions) and provide regular reporting to stakeholders
Ensure all project documentation is complete, accurate, and maintained in line with governance standards
Engineering Development&Product Innovation
Lead and support new product development in alignment with innovation strategy
Contribute to engineering activities including design reviews, change requests, and project evaluations
Participate in requirements definition, architecture reviews, and validation processes
Ensure engineering outputs comply with system engineering and configuration management and certification standards
Stakeholder&Team Coordination
Act as the central coordination point between engineering teams, contractors, suppliers, and customers
Manage cross‑functional teams spanning mechanical, electronic software, and hardware disciplines
Mentor and guide team members in project management best practices
Facilitate internal and client meetings and maintain clear communication at all levels
Contractor, Supplier&Resource Management
Manage subcontractors and suppliers, including Statements of Work (SOW), deliverables, and performance
Verify quality and completeness of deliverables prior to approvals and payments
Coordinate resource planning with functional managers and production teams
Risk, Quality&Compliance
Identify, assess, and proactively mitigate project risks, issues/ incidents
Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards across all sites
Apply project management methodologies (Agile, PMBOK, PRINCE2)
Drive continuous improvement in project management processes
Client&Business Support
Support customer‑facing project delivery, including installations, commissioning, field trials and proof of concepts.
Assist in business development activities, proposals, and client engagements
Provide technical and project input to marketing, production, and R&D functions
Travel&Working Conditions
Extensive travel across Africa (including Botswana, Ghana, and the DRC) and internationally
Ability to work in remote, high‑pressure, and challenging site environments
Flexibility to support multi‑site and international operations.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electronic, Mechanical, Systems, Industrial, or related)
Postgraduate qualification (advantageous)
Project Management certification ( PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent )
Experience in
mining equipment, infrastructure, or heavy engineering sectors
Exposure to
R&D, product development, and certification environments
Knowledge of technologies such as
instrumentation, gas detection, or collision warning systems
(advantageous)
Proven experience as a Project Manager in a
mining, industrial, or engineering environment
Strong background in
engineering project delivery and/or technical services
Experience managing
multi‑site and international projects , preferably in Africa
Ability to manage complex, fast‑paced, and high‑pressure environments
Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and coordination skills
Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making abilities
Experience in
cross‑functional engineering environments
(hardware, software, mechanical, etc.)
Competencies
Knowledge of
system engineering processes and configuration management
Experience with
budgeting, forecasting, and cost control
Familiarity with
project tools and platforms
Strong understanding of
