Registered Nurse - Operating Theatres, Queensland Health Department of Health - Queensland Townsville, Northern QLD Nursing - Theatre and Recovery (Healthcare and Medical) Government - State (Government and Defence) Contract/Temp, Casual/Vacation, Part time Add expected salary to your profile for insights The Operating Department at Townsville University Hospital are seeking a experienced Registered Nurse to join the Operating Theatre team This is a temporary part-time role, commencing ASAP - 24/05/2026, working 64 hours per fortnight. Our instrument and circulatory nurses rotate across all elective and emergency operating theatres. About the opportunity Our instrument and circulatory nurses rotate across all elective and emergency operating theatres. Successful candidates will be required to work am and pm shifts to ensure continuity of care for our patients and safe service delivery. A combination of 10, 9, 8 and 6 hour shifts are rostered to ensure nursing coverage to all theatre lists. On Call is mandatory for all staff deemed competent to be rostered on the on call roster each month. The Townsville University Operating Theatre has 15 operating theatres inclusive of a new Hybrid Operating room. The service offers Level 5 - 6 CSCF v3.1 within the following disciplines. Cardiac Neurosurgery Vascular Thoracic Ear, Nose and Throat Plastic Reconstruction Surgery Maxillary Facial, Oral Surgery and Dental Urology Orthopaedics Trauma Hepatobiliary, Gastrointestinal and Breast Endocrine Ophthalmology Paediatrics Obstetrics and Gynaecology Transplant donor site only (Kidney Transplants commenced in 2025) Hybrid Theatre with various imaging modalities PLEASE NOTE - This is a temporary part-time role, commencing ASAP - 24/05/2026, working 64 hours per fortnight. Highly Desirable: Possession of a relevant postgraduate qualification in an appropriate field is highly desirable. Such experience may be discipline specific or have a service area focus. Appointees will be required to work all shifts in accordance with the unit roster, which will include participation in an on-call roster. This is a VPD risk role.
