Head of Commercial Projects FTC - Mining - Northern Cape About the job Our client, an International Mining Company, has an opportunity for an experienced commercial leader with a strategic mindset. They are seeking a Head of Commercial Projects to join them on a 2 years fixed-term contract. You will report directly to the Director of Projects and work closely with the CCO.

In this key role, you will oversee all commercial aspects of projects, from contracting and partner selection to procurement and legal management. Your focus will be on reducing project spending, improving partner and contract performance, and ensuring strong supply chain and process governance.

Duties and Responsibilities

Oversee all commercial aspects of projects from contracting and partner selection to procurement, legal management, and contract closure.

Drive projects spend reduction and manage business partner and contract performance.

Ensure supply chain assurance and implement strong process governance.

Utilize benchmarking, analytics, dashboards, and market intelligence for informed decision‐making.

Manage commercial risks and address process bottlenecks.

Develop and implement reporting strategies to track project progress and performance.

Experience and Qualifications

Relevant degree (preferably in a technical field such as Engineering, Mining, Metallurgy etc).

MBA will be highly advantageous.

12+ years relevant experience in leading the Commercial function on large scale projects in Mining industry.

Exceptional techno‑commercial acumen, solid numerical skills and firm grasp of macro‑economic concepts.

Proven experience in EPC/EPCM type of contracts.

Solid understanding of legal nuances and commercial contracting.

Exceptional negotiation and relationship management skills.
