About the job Superintendent Earth Moving Equipment - Mining - Northern Cape Our client is seeking a Superintendent Earth Moving Equipment to ensure the optimal performance and safety of earth moving, auxiliary, and drilling equipment. The role requires technical expertise in mining operations, SHERQ policies, and the ability to manage teams effectively. The ideal candidate will be proficient in MS Office, JD Edwards, Minestar, VIMS, Qlikview, and Isometrix, with strong knowledge of HR, IR policies, and statutory regulations (MHSA, Environmental Act, Labour agreements). The Superintendent will also conduct root cause analysis and problem-solving to maintain equipment reliability and meet production targets.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure equipment availability and reliability for earth moving, auxiliary, and drilling equipment across sectional boundaries to support production targets.
Manage maintenance activities to optimize equipment performance, minimize downtime, and ensure safe, effective operation.
Oversee contractor management to ensure quality service delivery, adherence to safety standards, and performance targets.
Monitor and control budget and costs associated with equipment maintenance and operations, ensuring cost-effective solutions.
Lead and manage people by providing direction, coaching, and support to ensure high performance and achievement of team objectives.
Provide people leadership by fostering a positive, motivated, and collaborative work environment that promotes accountability and high standards.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, equipment longevity, and safety outcomes.
Ensure SHERQ (Safety, Health, Environmental, Risk, and Quality) adherence and compliance by enforcing policies, standards, and best practices for a safe working environment.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Supervisory certificate / ARM / equivalent (NQF Level 4 150 credits).
Planned Maintenance Certificate (NQF Level 5).
Minimum of 5 years operational experience in a Mining or Heavy Industry maintenance environment in plant and fleet as a qualified artisan.
Minimum of 3 years experience as a Supervisor / Team / Project leader in a Mining or Heavy Industry maintenance environment in plant and fleet.
