Operations Officer (Waste Levy and Data) Department of Natural Resources and Environment Tasmania Launceston, Launceston and North East TAS Policy, Planning and Regulation, Government to State (Government and Defence) Full time 99,482 to 104,352 pro rata, per annum + super About the role The Operations Officer plays a key role in delivering Tasmania’s resource management and regulatory framework through oversight of the landfill levy and statewide data collection.  Working closely with waste facility operators, this role supports compliance and alignment with the Waste and Resource Recovery Act 2022. This is a permanent position that can be based in either Hobart, Launceston or Devonport. In this role, you will: Work directly with facility operators to provide clear, practical advice on legislative requirements and compliance. Contribute to improved environmental outcomes through effective regulation and oversight of waste management practices. Apply legislative requirements through site inspections, audits and monitoring activities. Build strong, collaborative relationships to support sustainable resource management outcomes. Analyse and support data collection and reporting to inform decision-making and operational practices. Our ideal candidate has Demonstrated experience in regulatory, compliance or operational roles within environmental management or a similar legislative framework, with the ability to quickly develop detailed knowledge of the Waste and Resource Recovery Act 2022. Outstanding stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to build cooperative and effective relationships with operators and other stakeholders, provide clear advice and support positive compliance outcomes. Well-developed analytical skills, including experience undertaking inspections or audits, managing and interpreting complex data and preparing high?quality reports and briefings. Strong organisational skills and the ability to work autonomously while managing competing priorities. The ability and willingness to travel within Tasmania to undertake site inspections and engage directly with operators.
