Our client, a leading mining company in the Northern Cape, is seeking a dynamic and qualified Junior Geologist to join their team. The ideal candidate will assist and expand iron ore resources by applying scientific methods such as remote sensing, geophysics, geological mapping, exploration drilling and representing data in 3D models, assist in updating of current models using secondary drilling, pit mapping and blast-hole data to deliver an accurate mining model as well as covering of the value chain from reserve to planning to final product by optimizing grade and fragmentation, which includes but not limited to:Geological services Core sampling and logging Geological software and database administration Mine planning Grade control Monitoring and reporting, SHERQ adherence and compliance and Work Ethics Desired Qualifications and Experience BSc Hons in Geology or related fields (NQF Level 8) Minimum of one (1) year operational general geology and exploration experienceMinimum of one (1) year operational surface mining / opencast mining experience Minimum of one (1) year operational fragmentation analysis and PSD experience (Recommended) Drivers license - Valid Code EB/B driver's license Legal Appointment - 2.9.2 Appointment Accreditation&Registration Geological Society of SA is advantageous South African Council for Natural Scientists is advantageous Job Related knowledge Sound knowledge of iron ore geology and resources modelling Understanding of reginal geology including prospecting, exploration and geo statistics, Grade control and schedulingDrilling and exploration experience Surface mining experience and short-term planning Metallurgical activates Fragmentation and PSD Computer Literacy- Advanced user of Geological software; Basic user of MS Word and MS PowerPoint; Intermediate user of MS Excel SHERQ Knowledge of policies and proceduresAnalytical skills Change Management Interpersonal skills Strategic thinking skills Package&Remuneration Salary: Market Related Interested?
