About the job GCC Mechanical Engineer: FTC - Mining - Northern Cape Our client, an International Mining Company, is seeking a qualified Mechanical Engineer to join their team for a mining project on a fixed-term contract. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring that all mechanical equipment and installations comply with the Mine Health and Safety Act and other relevant regulations. A GCC is a requirement for this position.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop, implement, and monitor safety policies and procedures related to mechanical engineering.

Conduct or supervise regular inspections and testing of mechanical systems to identify potential issues and ensure compliance with safety standards.

Perform risk assessments to identify potential hazards related to mechanical equipment and operations.

Implement risk mitigation strategies and ensure that appropriate safety measures are in place.

Lead investigations into mechanical failures, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes.

Oversee the design review, installation, and commissioning of new mechanical systems and equipment.

Ensure that all new installations meet safety and operational standards.

Ensure that all personnel are competent and aware of the latest safety practices and procedures.

Qualifications and Experience

National Diploma / Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Government Certificate of Competencies (GCC) registration.

At least 8 years of experience within mining, specifically mineral processing industry.
