Working closely with the Head Chef, the Sous Chef will play a key role in ensuring consistency, efficiency, and excellence across all kitchen operations. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a structured environment, can handle pressure, and is committed to maintaining high culinary standards.
Candidate Requirements
Formal culinary qualification
Previous experience as a Sous Chef or strong Chef de Partie in a 4/5-star lodge or hotel
Strong leadership and kitchen management skills
Ability to work in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment
Excellent attention to detail and consistency in food preparation
Strong organisational and time-management skills
Good understanding of food hygiene and kitchen safety standards
Candidate Responsibilities
Assist the Head Chef in managing daily kitchen operations
Ensure consistent quality and presentation of all dishes
Supervise and support junior kitchen staff
Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organisation in the kitchen
Assist with stock control, ordering, and minimising wastage
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and hygiene standards
Step into a leadership role in the absence of the Head Chef
Package details
7% company contribution to provident fund and 50% medical aid subsidy (capped at R1,800, effective from month 4)
Three meals per day provided (balanced, seven-day rotational menu)
Access to staff recreation centre (pool, games room, and fully equipped gym)
Covered parking and staff transport provided
21/7 work cycle with 21 days annual leave
This is a Live-in position
