Our client, a leading player in their field, is looking for a high calibre account manager to join their team. You can be based in either Leeds or Luton. Details as follows.
Responsibilities
Full understanding of packaging formats, advising team on most suitable equipment and suppliers for all print jobs.
Advises on economic formats, working with agencies, clients and suppliers to derive cost effectiveness.
Provides technical input and advice on packaging projects as required at high level client meetings.
Procurement of packaging material, delivering on time, to specification, quality and to contractual targets– responsible for delivery through the team.
Procurement and project management of campaigns, customer projects and understanding client and agency objectives– advise the team on large projects and key stakeholder projects.
Ensures the team has the tools to maintain job history.
Develops strong relationships with suppliers and supports the team where needed with supplier issues and queries.
Ensures best practice in conjunction with Group.
Daily tracking and analysis of benchmarking information, ensuring data is communicated monthly to the Account Director– Packaging.
Effective introduction and management of e‑procurement systems.
Training and supporting colleagues, client and agencies.
Ability to demonstrate and express an informed understanding of how e‑procurement can provide business advantage to the client.
Embrace other procurement techniques, e.g., e‑auction, instant pricing, cost for product.
Finance: Working to the operating budget, understanding of P&L and billing.
Ensures best practice procedures are followed and documented.
Produces and analyses end‑of‑month MI reports and drives the required operational changes in order to further develop contribution.
Ensures month‑end invoicing is on time and correct.
Ensures debt is kept to a minimum and is managed by team.
Manages site balance sheet with finance back‑up.
Attends customer/procurement meetings as appropriate.
Defines new business opportunities and communicates these.
Develops a good understanding of the client’s business and industry sector, in particular driving through a level of customer insight and understanding of each line of business.
Builds relationships with clients and their preferred agencies, managing their perceptions and expectations.
Input where appropriate into DHL new business meetings on packaging specific topics.
Owns and resolves customer complaints and issues along with supporting team as back‑up.
Demonstrates an understanding of the technological direction of the industry and how these advances will benefit the client.
Continues to build and strengthen knowledge of the industry and product innovations.
Identifies and develops business opportunities.
Mentors colleagues as appropriate– inspire and motivate.
Identifies any training and development requirements for the teams and works with colleagues and the Account Director.
Holds weekly team meetings, WIP meetings and 1‑to‑1s.
Encourages team members to seek out own experiences to grow.
Attends supplier meetings and manages relationships/expectations.
Resolves complex supplier issues, escalates where appropriate.
Works hand in hand with sourcing on the procurement strategy.
Builds and maintains excellent supplier relationships.
Takes responsibility for own performance management and for identifying areas of required personal development.
Will be a strong and confident communicator.
Promotes the client’s culture by living the values and leading by example, coaching and supporting peers as appropriate.
Ensures results of any customer satisfaction survey and general customer/agency feedback is acted upon where necessary and action plans are produced as appropriate.
Implements and uses best practice principles.
Adheres to defined ordering, authorisation, billing process.
Implements and reviews local operating procedures manual.
Documents actions and follows up as appropriate.
Understands SLAs and how to achieve them.
Keeps Clarity updated with relevant information.
Assists in management of communication channels between the team, the client, their preferred agencies and suppliers, in order to drive down delays.
Advise on changed project details– e.g., specs/deadlines.
Works with sensitivity to client’s needs, remaining calm and confident, even in difficult situations.
Produces clear and structured written communications, with the ability to rationalise and present solutions to the client.
Understand that there is a joint approach to be portrayed to client and procurement team.
Will demonstrate a concern for quality of results, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
Ensures work is delivered‘right first time’, considering the implications of the design for the end‑user and ensuring it complies with the original brief.
Ensures all work is presented according to corporate guidelines.
Plans and schedules activities to ensure best use of own and others’ time and resources.
Monitors progress on tasks and reprioritises them to account for changing circumstances.
Tracks several projects at once and monitors their progress within the team.
Facilitates timely cost/work approval with client.
Generates quotes requested within agreed SLAs.
Works in partnership with colleagues to achieve common goals.
Offers help and assistance to others while understanding their needs, contributing to a positive team spirit.

Qualifications
Will ideally have 5 years’ experience in a packaging procurement or packaging print management environment with at least 3 years managing large projects with multiple deliverables.
Detailed technical knowledge of packaging, particularly secondary packaging formats.
Experience of working for/with/alongside Creative agencies.
Sound project management and knowledge relating to multiple products for each project.
Experience of managing a team of people.
Experience of forecasting, managing budgets and Profit&Loss of an account.
Excellent client facing and customer service skills, service minded.
Ability to build relationships and develop new business.
Commercially strong and numerate.
Committed, resilient and prepared to work extra hours as required.
Experience of working in an environment where priorities are constantly changing.
Can manage change, and keep a clear perspective of end goals.
Team worker, with positive outlook who can inspire and motivates peers.
Focus on project management, timely delivery and achievement of key performance indicators.
Must be computer literate, appreciate the advantages of technology.
