PROFESSIONAL NURSE GENERAL X 1 POSTS (WITH MENTAL HEALTH QUALIFICATION&EXPERIENCE) RE-ADVERTISEMENT

Responsibilities
Actively participate in clinical management and nursing care of mental health care users with mental health problems.
Promote quality patient care through the implementation of protocols, guidelines, and standards.
Consult with clients or mental health care users who require mental health counselling.
Manage aggressive mental health users in accordance with institutional guidelines and protocols.
Conduct mental status examinations and formulate nursing care plans for all admissions.
Maintain accurate clinical records, statistics registers, and referral records.
Utilize resources and stock efficiently within limited budget constraints.
Participate in community outreach programmes or events and initiate awareness of mental health‑related issues.
Work within inter‑professional and multi‑disciplinary teams, while also supervising and mentoring lower‑category staff.
Qualifications and Requirements
Grade 12, Basic R425 qualification (diploma/degree in nursing) or an equivalent qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse and Mental Health.
Minimum two (2) years of relevant experience in a mental health unit or psychiatric facility after registration with the SANC.
Strong communication and crisis intervention skills.
Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and manage high‑stress situations.
Prepared to work at different units with mental health care users within Mamelodi Regional Hospital and willing to rotate during change‑over.
Willingly escort mental health care users when required.
Knowledge of relevant legislation and policy related to nursing and mental health within the public sector.
Basic computer literacy to use electronic systems for capturing patient information, checking results, capturing data and tracking referrals.
Competencies
Knowledge and insight of relevant legislation and policy related to nursing and mental health within the public sector.
Basic computer literacy for communicating, capturing patient information, checking results, capturing data and tracking referrals on various electronic systems.
