Temporary Maintenance Electrician, Muizenberg

Temporary position: 3 months, starting on 29 June 2026

Compact Food Solutions, situated in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town in Muizenberg, is the local branch of an international food manufacturing facility specialising in therapeutic foods and nutritional solutions.

The company will be temporarily employing a second shift starting 29 June 2026. As such, the Maintenance Department requires an Electrician with experience working in a food manufacturing / high-risk environment. The successful candidate will report to the Maintenance Manager.

Duties:

• Adhering to food safety rules and regulations
• Adhering to and implementing standard operating procedures
• Providing assistance to external contractors and/or service providers
• Performing cleaning and sanitation procedures according to standard operating procedures
• Performing rapid and accurate fault-finding and repairs on high-speed automated packaging and processing equipment
• Executing scheduled maintenance procedures to extend equipment lifespan and to prevent plant downtime
• Ensuring all electrical installation and repair work complies with SANS 10142 parts 1 & 2 standards and strict food safety protocols
• Troubleshooting and maintaining PLC-controlled systems, variable speed drives (VSD's), and electro-mechanical systems
• Collaborating with the engineering team to improve plant performance and meet Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) targets

Requirements:

• Valid Electrical Trade Test Certificate (Red Seal)
• At least 3–5 years of post-apprenticeship electrical maintenance experience
• Prior experience working within an FMCG, food production, or beverage bottling environment is highly preferable
• Maintenance and technical background
• Health and safety training and experience will be advantageous
• Computer literate
• Strong proficiency in PLC troubleshooting, automation and reading complex circuit diagrams
• Must be willing to work rotational shifts, overtime, stand-by and call-outs
• Valid driver's license and dependable personal transport (for call-outs)
