Conservation Manager, Mbombela

Vacancy: CONSERVATION MANAGER

Area: Sabi Sands - KNP

Industry: Tourism / Hospitality

Requirements:

• Master’s degree in applied ecology, environmental science, conservation biology, or related (PhD advantageous)

• 8+ years of experience in conservation management, or similar position

• Big 5’ conservation environment experience

• Knowledge of South African ecosystems and biodiversity

• Ecological research and data analysis 

• Statutory requirements: protected area management, assessments, development

• Environmental legislation and policies in South Africa 

• Sound financial and budget management skills 

• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines 

• English, (written and verbal), Afrikaans and Shangaan would be advantageous 

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team 

• Proficiency in MS Office, GIS and other relevant software such as Earth Ranger 

• Drone and camera trap experience 

• Valid firearm competency (bolt action) is a necessity 

• Driver licence, code 10 preferably

Salary Package:

• Market-related and depending on candidate’s experience

• Housing in the reserve
