Laser Operator Assistant

Location: Pietermaritzburg

Our client is seeking a motivated and reliable Laser Operator Assistant to join their manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be energetic, safety-conscious, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment. Candidates with a technical aptitude and experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment will be highly advantageous.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 / Matric (advantageous)
• Valid Forklift Licence
• Technical understanding of laser cutting processes
• Ability to read measurements and interpret technical drawings
• Experience using power tools, particularly grinders
• Ability to use measuring equipment, including tape measures and Vernier calipers
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team environment
• Ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues and supervisors
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines
• Strong organisational and prioritization skills

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Laser Operator with daily production activities
• Operate a forklift safely and efficiently
• Operate overhead cranes as required
• Load and offload metal sheets onto and off the laser cutting bed
• Inspect the quality of laser-cut components
• Remove finished parts and place them in designated storage racks
• Perform basic housekeeping duties within the department
• Adhere to all company health and safety procedures
• Assist in maintaining a safe, clean, and productive work environment
