Light Motor Vehicle (Code 8) Driver

Location: Port Elizabeth

Job Summary: The Light Motor Vehicle Driver will be responsible for safely and efficiently transporting goods and passengers using a Code 8 vehicle. The ideal candidate should have a valid Code 8 driver's license and a proven track record of responsible driving. The role requires a strong commitment to safety, punctuality, and excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Safe Driving:

   • Operate light motor vehicles in a safe and defensive manner, adhering to all traffic rules and regulations.
   • Conduct routine vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness and report any issues promptly.
   • Maintain a clean and organized vehicle interior.

2. Route Planning:

   • Plan and follow the most efficient routes for timely and cost-effective deliveries.
   • Familiarize oneself with the geographical layout of Port Elizabeth and surrounding areas.

3. Delivery and Collection:

   • Ensure the safe and timely delivery and/or collection of goods or passengers.
   • Handle goods with care to prevent damage during transportation.
   • Obtain signatures or confirmation of goods delivered and report any discrepancies.

4. Customer Service:

   • Provide excellent customer service to clients during deliveries and interactions.
   • Communicate effectively and professionally with clients, suppliers, and colleagues.

5. Vehicle Maintenance:

   • Perform basic maintenance tasks, such as checking oil levels, tire pressure, and fueling, to ensure the vehicle's optimal performance.
   • Report any mechanical issues promptly for repairs.

6. Documentation:

   • Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel consumption, and maintenance activities.
   • Complete required paperwork, such as delivery notes or logbooks, accurately and on time.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Valid Code 8 driver's license.
• Proven experience as a Light Motor Vehicle Driver.
• Knowledge of Port Elizabeth and surrounding areas.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong commitment to safety and adherence to traffic rules.
• Ability to work independently and responsibly.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in a similar role is preferred.
• Clean driving record.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and carry moderately heavy loads.
• Good vision and hearing.
• Physical fitness to undertake driving responsibilities.

Working Conditions:
