Description

Company in Pretoria is looking for a Chief Financial Officer for a Fix Term Contract. 

  1. Strategic Management & Reporting
  • To ensure the creating and executing of the Finance Strategy is aligned with critical business objectives.
  • Design, scope, implement and manage long and short term Finance Department objectives.
  • Manage associated risk register with the internal audit team and committee.
  • Prepare reports for EXCO and Board.
  • Work with senior teams to grow the business, formulating strategies and plans.
  • Member of the risk, audit and compliance committee.
  1. Budget & Strategic Planning
  • Ensure corporate budgeting processes are carried out and reviewed as per business need.
  • Liaison with key stake holders to ensure financial business strategy and plan is achieved.
  • Advise various departments as to where variances occur from the approved business plan and budgets.
  1. Corporate Finance
  • Treasury
  • Optimize the company's liquidity, making sound financial investments and hedge financial risks.
  • Corporate finance
  • Manage company policy regarding capital requirements, debt, taxation, equity, disposal and acquisitions as appropriate.
  • Establish a high level of credibility and manage strong working relationships with external parties.
  • Manage the company's sourcing of funding and the capital structure.
  1. Financial Management
  • Ensure effective internal controls are in place and compliance with IFRS for SMEs and applicable regulatory legislation for financial reporting.
  • Provide leadership to finance department with regards to the accounting strategy, to optimize the company's financial performance and strategic position.
  • Ensure that company financial systems are robust, complaint and support current activities and future growth.
  1. Human Capital Management
  • Ensure training and developments of all employees are conducted – either in-house or via service providers.
  • Ensure effective HC / IR and Training and development strategies in departments of responsibility.
  • Ensure role definitions in different departments are aligned with the business strategy.
  • Ensure motivation of workforce.
  • Ensure consistent application with company policies.
  • Ensure line management of all direct reports and within finance team is in place.
  • Manage all direct reports according to company policies and procedures.
  1. Taxation
  • Ensure effective internal controls are in place and compliance with applicable regulatory legislation for tax reporting.
  • Ensure good corporate governance and tax integrity and to ensure tax compliance in line with revenue authorities.
  1. Effective utilization of all systems
  • Ensure all policies and procedures are current and applicable for the Finance Division.
  • Ensure all policies and procedures are complied with at all times and fully operational for the Finance Division.
  • Ensure all Finance systems utilized are adding value and is current with operations and is managed effectively.
  • Ensure that all staff in the Finance Division have received training on all relevant systems for the department and/or have provided training to direct reports.

Qualifications:

  • BCom Accounting Honours Degree
  • Registered with South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) Experience:
  • Minimum 5-10 years' relevant experience in a senior management role Knowledge / Skills:
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate well at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to solve complex problems and ability to make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis.
  • High level of integrity and dependability.
  • Have a proficient knowledge of the company, its divisions, associates, people, products, service and website.
  • Deliver exceptional service that exceeds customers' expectations through proactive and appropriate solutions.
  • Must have experience from a Legal environment
  • Research and provide legal opinions on a variety of issues and new business projects within the business to
  • proactively identify, assess and manage legal risk
  • Must be willing to assist in general administrative duties.
  • Enjoy working independently as well as be part of a team.
  • Assist fellow colleagues in the daily running of company related tasks.
  • Be focused on providing work of an extremely high quality.
  • Show ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines.
  • Very good organizational skills
