Proposal Design Engineer, Pretoria

Proposal Engineer Our client is seeking a highly motivated Proposal Engineer to support the commercial and technical development of solar and hybrid energy solutions. You will play a key role in preparing accurate, competitive, and technically sound proposals for clients across commercial and industrial sectors.

Key Responsibilities

Develop preliminary and detailed solar PV and BESS system designs

Interpret client requirements, tender documents, and technical specifications

Prepare technical and commercial proposals for C&I and utility-scale projects

Conduct site assessments and feasibility studies

Perform system sizing, yield analysis, and financial modelling

Compile BOQs, cost estimates, and pricing structures

Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and project teams

Support the sales team during client engagements and presentations

Ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations

Optimise designs for cost, efficiency, and performance

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field

3–7 years’ experience in solar PV design and proposals

Strong knowledge of PV systems, inverters, and BESS solutions

Experience with design tools (e.g., Helioscope, PVsyst, AutoCAD)

Understanding of grid integration and local regulations

Strong commercial awareness and costing experience

Excellent communication and presentation skills

Advantageous

Professional registration (ECSA or in progress)

Experience with large-scale or C&I solar projects

Familiarity with tendering processes and EPC environments
