Production Veterinarian - Festive, Pretoria

The ideal candidate would be responsible for:

Advice on general disease prevention and treatment. Development and management of effective vaccination and medication programmes. Interpretation of laboratory results for standard monitoring and diagnosis. Routine and diagnostic post-mortem evaluation of broilers and breeders. Audits on general bird husbandry, bio-security, welfare and housing conditions.Involvement in specific projects to improve production Key Performance Indicators. Investigations into problem areas within the breeder flocks, hatcheries, broiler flocks and selected meat safety. Health attestations for movement of live birds and poultry products in South Africa. Maintaining HPAI Vaccination registration of facilities in compliance with regulations of the Department of Agriculture (DoA).Maintaining registration of facilities for export / import. Communication with State Veterinary Services on controlled diseases and export requirements. Formal presentations to production teams and contract producers on various veterinary topics. The successful candidate must meet the following requirements:

Relevant tertiary qualification in veterinary science (BVSc, BVMCh or equivalent). Veterinary experience in commercial poultry production will be an added advantage. Registered with the South African Veterinary Council (SAVC).
