Data Modelers X3 - Contract, Bryanston

Our Client a Global Tech firm is seeking 3 Data Modellers to join their team in Sandton on a contract basis. They offer stability, attractive rates, growth and a great working environment.

The role entails architecting the data platform layer, data cleansing layer, reporting and analytical layers within a cloud environment. Work closely with Data Scientists to understand model features and link back to transactional environment to understand data quality, data relationships and data availability. Document and define frameworks with the Data Engineer to build the data platform.

Requirements

1. Provide Data Architecture (DA) support for the Data Engineering team
2. Define DA for the Data Science teams and participate in review and walk-through sessions for model fit and model producionization
3. Assist with the definition of custom meta data models for ELT/ETL
4. Direct data automation capabilities with the Data Engineer and Data Scientist
5. Profile new data sources in a variety of formats including Json, XML, etc.
6. Define data quality rules with Data Scientists to clean data
7. Define data mapping and transformation rules between source and Datawarehouse and data lake
8. Work closely with Data Engineer to facilitate Data Governance including access and security control
9. Expert documentation of DA for new data sources, metadata and productionized information flow

Qualifications

1. Honours degree in BSc Computer Science or Btech
2. 5 to 15 years of data modelling experience is preferred
3. Expert database knowledge in SQL
4. Exceptional data modelling skills, ie physical, dimensional, relational 3N forms, and Kimball
5. Datawarehousing experience is critical
6. Experience working on large and complex datasets
7. Programming in R, Python is advantageous
8. Experience with MS Azure and Modern Azure Datawarehouse design skills is advantageous
9. DevOps/DataOps and CI/CD experience
