CORE PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Enhance the functioning and efficiency of the BCO Chief Executive Officer/Group Financial Director's office
through effective coordination, project management execution, , execution of management accounting
activities, communication and engagement with internal and external stakeholders and overall professional
executive support in line with the Barloworld Corporate Office's strategy and values.
JOB OBJECTIVES
Strategic / Financial
• Co-ordinate and provide input into the development of strategies, plans and or initiatives for functions in the
BCO CEO’s office.
• Provide oversight on the allocation, utilization and management of resources (people and non-people) in the
office of the BCO CEO for optimal resource management.
• Contribute towards the overall governance and performance of the functions in BCO CEO’s office.
• Assist the CEO in the execution of the strategic objective (value creation and maximising shareholder value)
• Assist CE in the implementation of key projects from the chief executive’s office.
• Research analysis and interpretation of business unit performance indicators and external markets trends
• Ensure that decision taken from the engagements with stakeholder are implemented, communicated and
continues to yield value.
• Analysis and provide input for the Chief Executive’s internal and external stakeholder meetings. In addition,
providing insight on key aspects for the decisions to be taken.
• Assist the CEO to execute on the mandate of the board through effective project management.
Operational
• Serve as a strategic liaison between the BCO CEO’s office and Executives by providing advisory support and
effective query resolution.
• Keep abreast of developments within industry including market trends for effective and competent execution
of responsibilities.
• Prepare, review and present key/formal responses for/on behalf of the BCO CEO’s.
• Co-ordinate the execution of the business planning and delivery reporting processes.
• Co-ordinate input from various stakeholders and ensure accurate consolidation in line with set requirements.
• Render administrative, executive assistant and management support functions to the BCO CEO.
• Assist with the preparation of monthly group management reports and presentations.
• Assist with funding and releasing of payments.
• Prepare presentations and reports obo the BCO CEO
Stakeholders (internal & external customers, suppliers, shareholders, communities)
• Closely engage and collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders (i.e., Executives, Board of
Directors, Committees and governance structures, service providers, etc.) for the effective
coordination/delivery of projects, plans and other priorities.
• Regularly engage stakeholders to identify business issues/challenges requiring the attention of the BCO CEO
and propose sound solutions to address same.
• Represent the BCO CEO at various forums/committees, as and when required.
Implement a communications strategy in line with the BCO objectives.
Internal & External Communication
• Internal (Group and Divisional Executives, functional teams within designated area (i.e., Finance, IT, etc.) and external
(regulatory bodies, governance structures, board members, service providers, etc.)
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATION / REGISTRATION
• CA (SA) – Desirable
• Bachelor’s degree- Essential
MINIMUM REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
• Operations or Project Management/co-ordination experience – Essential
• Strong project reporting skills, with a focus on interdepartmental communication - Essential
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Management/Financial Accounting experience – Essential
• Experience with budget management –Essential
• Consulting experience with a focus on operations management – Essential
• Various levels of stakeholder engagement experience (Board, Governance committees, government institutions, Executives, etc.) – Essential
• Exposure to the various functions under the ambit of the BCO CEO processes – Desirable
• 3 years’ experience in managing/leading others (part of the overall 5yrs minimum experience cited above) – Desirable
