DENTAL ASSISTANT– HPCSA REGISTERED Location: Randburg, Johannesburg Position Type: Full-Time Salary: Market-Related (Based on Experience)
Medical Resources Group is recruiting on behalf of our client, a well-established dental practice based in Craighall, for an experienced and professional HPCSA Registered Dental Assistant to join their team on a permanent basis.
This opportunity is ideally suited to a mature candidate with strong chairside assisting experience, excellent infection control awareness, and the ability to work confidently in a fast‑paced dental environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the dentist with a wide range of general and advanced dental procedures while also assisting with reception and administrative duties when required.
Key Responsibilities Chairside Dental Assistance
Assist the dentist with 4-handed dentistry during various dental procedures
Prepare and set up the surgery before patient appointments
Ensure proper clean-up and sterilisation after procedures and at the end of the day
Sterilisation&Infection Control
Maintain strict infection prevention and sterilisation protocols
Ensure all dental instruments and equipment are sterilised correctly
Monitor and maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards throughout the practice
Ensure compliance with dental and healthcare infection control regulations
Materials&Equipment Management
Ensure treatment rooms are fully stocked and organised
Assist with the handling and maintenance of dental equipment and instruments
Prepare and mix dental materials including:
Impression materials
Dental cements
Liners and related materials
Reception&Administrative Support
Answer incoming calls professionally when required
Assist with appointment bookings and diary management
Provide administrative and filing support where necessary
Assist with patient communication and front-desk support as part of the team environment
Work collaboratively with team members across overlapping duties
Minimum Requirements
Matric Certificate (Grade 12)– Essential
Current HPCSA Registration– Essential
Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Dental Assistant – Essential
Strong knowledge and experience in 4-handed dentistry
Knowledge of general dental procedures and chairside assistance
Excellent understanding of sterilisation and infection control protocols
Professional appearance and hygiene standards
Punctual and reliable with excellent time management
Friendly, patient-focused, and professional communication skills
Strong teamwork skills with willingness to learn and adapt
Ability to work in a fast-paced dental environment
Basic computer literacy and administration skills
Advantageous
Experience working on Solumed or similar dental software
Experience with digital scanning and advanced dental procedures
Strong telephone etiquette and appointment scheduling experience
Previous experience assisting with reception and administrative duties
Working Hours
Monday– Friday: 07:30 – 16:00
Preparation of surgery before opening and clean-up after closing required daily
Approximately 4 Saturday mornings per year as operationally required
Remuneration
Market-related salary based on experience and qualifications
