Design Engineer– Watercare Mining Watercare Mining is a water purification supplier delivering tailor‑made solutions in the fields of water treatment chemicals and engineered plants such as potable and wastewater purification plants. The company provides process engineering design, R&D, and support services for potable, effluent, and solid‑liquid separation plants, focusing on operation and maintenance through trained personnel.

Job Location:

Randfontein, South Africa (business travel across Watercare Mining– Africa Countries required).

Summary The Design Engineer will be responsible for design, development, and detailing of mechanical systems and components using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD. Duties include 3D modelling, manufacturing drawing preparation, BOM compilation, and supporting the full project lifecycle– from concept to commissioning. Additional responsibilities include pump selection, finite element analysis, procurement support, and general project engineering tasks.

Key Responsibilities

Develop detailed 3D models and assemblies in Autodesk Inventor.

Produce 2D manufacturing, fabrication, and assembly drawings in AutoCAD and Inventor.

Compile accurate bills of materials (BOMs) for manufacturing and procurement.

Assist with mechanical design calculations and equipment sizing.

Perform or support finite element analysis (FEA) to validate designs.

Assist with pump selection based on hydraulic requirements, duty points, and system conditions.

Conduct site visits for measurements, inspections, installation support, and design verification.

Attend manufacturing workshops to support fabrication, resolve design queries, and ensure compliance with drawings and specifications.

Coordinate with workshop personnel, contractors, and suppliers to resolve technical issues.

Assist with procurement by preparing technical specifications, evaluating supplier quotations, and supporting vendor selection.

Support project engineering activities, including documentation control, technical reports, and progress tracking.

Ensure designs comply with relevant standards, codes, and project specifications.

Maintain accurate engineering documentation and revision control.

Ensure designs are practical, cost‑effective, and manufacturable.

Adhere to company quality systems, health and safety requirements, and project procedures.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

Experience in 3D modelling, detailed design, and manufacturing drawings.

Ability to compile and manage bills of materials (BOMs).

Basic understanding of pumps, mechanical systems, and equipment selection.

Willingness to travel for site and manufacturing visits.

Preferred Skills&Experience

Experience with finite element analysis (FEA).

Exposure to project engineering and procurement processes.

Experience in industrial, water treatment, process plant, or manufacturing environments.

Strong problem‑solving and technical communication skills.
