PowerBI Developer, Johannesburg

To automate the manual data integration process and build well-definable data assets (Data Objects, Data Products and Business views) that connect to existing PowerBI reports.

SPECIFIC PROJECT DELIVERABLES

• Conceptual, Logical and Physical Data Model and Database Views.
• Power BI models, DAX queries, visual reports, KPI scorecards, and dashboards
• Data assets and models modernization to improvement performance.
• Solution approach and development approach documents.

TASKS TO BE EXECUTED/ ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Refinement and documentation of the development environment design.
• Advise and create business views that connect to existing PowerBI reports.
• Optimise Power BI models for new and existing PowerBI reports.
• Develop visual reports, KPI scorecards, and dashboards using Power BI
• Develop using DAX queries where required.
• Continuous improvement of development and production environments for large scale data engineering efforts.
• Translation of the business requirements into usable data objects.
• Continuously engage on activities to ensure the platform's stability.

EXPERTISE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO ENABLE SERVICE DELIVERY

• Power Query and Dax: Proficiency in writing complex Power Query and Dax queries to extract, manipulate and aggregate data.
• Data Modelling: Knowledge of data modelling creation and optimisation to enable users engaged in reporting and data analysis.
• PowerBI: Advanced knowledge with creating and managing PowerBI reports.
• Development Environment: Experience with software development tools and methodologies.
• Technical Documentation: Ability to write technical documentation to effectively communicate design decisions.
• Business Requirements Analysis: Understanding of the business requirements and ability to align the data objects with the business needs.
• Project Management: Ability to plan and execute the project effectively.
• Understanding of Azure DevOps Methodology (advantageous)
• SAP working knowledge (advantageous)
• Azure technology stack knowledge (advantageous)
• Industry experience in Mining or natural resources would be advantageous.
