My client based in Johannesburg North is seeking an experienced IT Operations Manager to join their team. The successful candidate will be based in Parktown, and will be required to go to site meetings, visits ect.
JOB SUMMARY
The IT Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing all IT systems and IT operational activities within the company. The IT Operations Manager will play an integral part in the strategic planning, procurement, implementation, security, protocols, and management of Information Technology solutions in use at for the organisation and its clients, as well as the operational activities associated with them.

This role requires the operations manager to possess the following characteristics:
• Must have a strategic focus and forward future thinking
• In a management position, they are expected to possess leadership capabilities and show support to junior technicians within the IT team
• Must be willing to work alongside team members to ensure the completion of a job or project
• Must be able to handle highly pressurised environments and must be able to have a good sense of judgment when dealing with changing priorities
• All members of the team are to uphold the highest standards of accountability, integrity, and professionalism
RESPONSIBILITIES
Includes, but are not limited to:
• Oversee daily IT operations to ensure the functionality, availability, and security of IT systems, data, backups, and communications; should be able to troubleshoot and remediate issues that arise
• Implement and operationalise information security measures and controls
• Develop and manage IT budgets and procure IT equipment and professional services
• Manage IT vendors, contracts and service level agreements and perform vendor risk assessments
• Ensuring the availability and reliability of systems and networks
• Identify and manage operational and information risks
• Manage and coordinate IT projects
• Ensure effective delivery of services and solutions
• Coordinate internal and external resources, timetables, budgets, and the reporting to project stakeholders
• Manage relationships with clients and stakeholders
• Develop department policies, process and procedures documentation and provide internal training to department and impacted end users
• Ensure compliance of department and organisational polices
• Participate in internal and external audits; oversee and coordinate responses to audit requests
• Manage department team members, including performance and training assessments, communicating job expectations, appraising team members' performance, and ensure that day-to-day operations are executed
• Align IT infrastructure with current and future business requirements and strategic goals
• Evaluate, assess and conduct ongoing research about strategic solutions that leverage new and emerging technologies that improve organisation effectiveness and efficiencies
• Manage IT department services and prepare management reports of department activities, tasks, and operational metrics
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge through continued education, online/in person training and attendance of educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, networking, and participation in professional industry groups
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 5 years proven technical experience will be essential in the following areas:
• Google Workspace and Microsoft Suite (Servers, Microsoft 365, Azure, License management)
• Strong technical knowledge of network and server operating systems
• Experience with support of Windows Operating Systems, and SQL Server
• Proven experience in IT infrastructure planning, development, and operations
• Strong understanding of project management principles and practices
• Strong understanding of Helpdesk and Customer Relations Support system
• Data Security and Cyber Security knowledge
• Proven experience working with external and internal stakeholders (relationship management)
• Experience in a leadership/management role in IT
• Risk Management experience
• Detailed knowledge of industry's best practice processes
