PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The incumbent in this position will ensure optimum plant availability & efficiency by maintaining and repairing plant and equipment according to engineering specifications and safety standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Technical:

• Handle full technical function including Dismantling, fault detection, maintenance repairing.
• Check that all relevant information for the updating of drawings is collated and is accurate and correct

• Daily production line machinery inspections

• Diagnostics and fault finding in various fields including –Electrical, Mechanical Fitting, PLC's, Variable Speed Drives, Hydraulics and Pneumatics
• Maintenance and repairs
  • Maintain production machines, electrically driven machines and electronic control gear React to breakdowns expediently
  • Carry out planned maintenance schedules to required standards.
• Attending to breakdowns: Electrical, Mechanical and Instrumentation
• Repairs equipment failures so as to effectively minimise machine downtime
• Reconstruction and installation of machinery and electrical & mechanical equipment.
• Ensures test equipment is well maintained.

• Carry out PRAGMA inspections, adhoc breakdowns and preventative maintenance.
• Active involvement in the developing implementing and maintaining Preventative Maintenance System
• Standby duties and call-outs.

• Cover for other multi-skilled artisans for leave, training and sick leave.

Technical Operations:

• Control Job Card information and conduct checks
• Submits suggestions for improvements within his sphere of operations.

• Shutdown action plan and execution.
• Shutdown resource allocation.
• Participates in Shift Base Units, plant teams and focus teams meetings
• Training of department maintenance team and process controllers.
• Coaches operators on best operating practices and autonomous maintenance tasks
• Ensure Process Controllers adhere to process controls standards.
• Liaise with production personnel in his assigned areas and other engineering staff as and when required.

• Financial controls of maintenance budgets.
• Record and achieve set KPI's.

• Waste reduction and elimination

• Compiles shift report and ensure proper shift handover as per procedure

Assets control:

• Ensure asset availability conforms to agreed KPI's.
• Asset Management to maintain equipment in standard condition.

• Consumable and critical spares requests, update and verification

Housekeeping, Health, Safety and Quality control

• Adhere to the environmental policy and procedures of reducing waste, preventing spills, meeting environmental target, complying with hazardous chemical procedures and environmental legal requirements
• Create and maintain a safe & healthy working environment in the department.

• Safety custodian for area of responsibility
• Ensure OHSAct compliance and SHEQ standards are adhered to.

• Maintain standards in the plant and adhere to all safety rules and procedures
• Reporting of unsafe acts and conditions
• Investigates incidents (SHEQ) and identify root causes of Non-Conformances and corrects deviations

• Maintains a high level of good housekeeping in the workplace.

• Rebuild and continuous improvement projects/initiatives.
• Propose modifications to equipment for better performance or safety improvements

Required Minimum Qualification / Experience:

• N3 with subjects, including the relevant trade theory with minimum D symbol for mathematics and physical science
• NC(V) Level 4 with minimum D symbol for: Mathematics and another subject on engineering and related design or electrical infrastructure construction

• S1 electrical/ mechanical qualification or Higher

• Red seal Millwright Trade Test Certificate (Mechanical & Electrical)
• Computer Literate
• Minimum 5 Years qualified as an Artisan, with experience in maintenance in an Electronic engineering environment
• Previous experience in tile production and tile Adhesive manufacturing industry is a must

• Strong technical aptitude in Mechanical and Electrical

• Proven track record on Siemens PLC's
• Knowledge of Delta and Omron PLC's an advantage
• PLC Programming and Fault Finding
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematic drawings
• Competent with Isolation and Lock-out procedures

• Ability to work on Overhead cranes, electro-pneumatic systems, hydraulic systems, basic instrumentation and basic auto electrical equipment

• SAP spares ordering experience
• Knowledge of Safety Rules and Regulations
