Hydraulic Press Operator, Johannesburg

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Hydraulic Press Operator to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining hydraulic presses to produce high-quality components. The Hydraulic Press Operator should possess a strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities:

1. Machine Setup:
   • Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and production schedules to understand job specifications.
   • Set up hydraulic presses according to the required specifications for each job.
   • Install and align dies, molds, or tooling as necessary.
2. Operation:
   • Operate hydraulic presses to perform various forming, stamping, or molding operations.
   • Monitor machine operations to ensure products meet quality standards and production quotas.
   • Make adjustments to machine settings to control speed, pressure, and other variables.
   • Perform routine maintenance on equipment and troubleshoot any operational issues.
3. Quality Control:
   • Inspect finished products for defects and ensure they meet quality standards.
   • Conduct regular checks on product dimensions and make adjustments as needed.
   • Document production and inspection records accurately.
4. Safety:
   • Adhere to all safety guidelines and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
   • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
   • Report any safety hazards or incidents immediately.
5. Collaboration:
   • Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments.
   • Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve production goals.

Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Proven experience as a Hydraulic Press Operator or similar role.
3. Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of hydraulic press operations.
4. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical specifications.
5. Basic math skills for measurements and calculations.
6. Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
7. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
8. Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy materials.
9. Knowledge of safety procedures and guidelines.

Preferred Skills:

1. Technical training or certification in machine operation.
2. Familiarity with different types of hydraulic presses and their applications.
3. Experience with computer numerical control (CNC) systems.

Working Conditions: The job involves working in a manufacturing environment, standing for long periods, and lifting heavy objects. The candidate must be willing to work in a fast-paced and physically demanding setting.
