Junior Underwriter, Roodepoort Nedersetting

Our client, a specialist underwriting business within the Motor Industry, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Underwriter to join their growing team in Roodepoort. This role is well suited to a candidate looking to build a long-term career in underwriting within a specialised automotive environment.

The successful candidate will support senior underwriters with risk assessment, policy administration, and client servicing while ensuring full compliance with regulatory and internal underwriting standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with underwriting of motor-related risks in line with company guidelines
• Evaluate and analyse new business, renewals, endorsements, and cancellations
• Accurately capture and maintain policy data on underwriting systems
• Liaise with brokers, dealerships, and internal stakeholders to obtain outstanding information
• Ensure underwriting decisions comply with FAIS and regulatory requirements
• Prepare quotations, policy schedules, and supporting documentation
• Support claims-related underwriting queries where required
• Maintain high levels of accuracy, turnaround times, and service excellence
• Escalate complex or high-risk cases to senior underwriters

Minimum Requirements

• RE5 qualification (mandatory)
• FAIS-compliant credits (mandatory)
• Minimum 1 year experience in underwriting or short-term insurance (motor-related experience preferred)
• Understanding of short-term insurance principles and underwriting processes
• Computer literate with strong administrative and numerical skills

Qualifications

• Relevant insurance or financial services qualification (advantageous)
• Ongoing CPD compliance in line with FAIS requirements
