Role Purpose The role focuses on the design, construction oversight, maintenance, and long-term sustainability of civil and structural infrastructure. The engineer will:

• Lead civil engineering studies and projects
• Develop maintenance and renewal strategies
• Ensure compliance with safety, QA/QC, and engineering standards
• Manage budgets, contractors, consultants, and technical teams
• Support infrastructure reliability and operational continuity

Core Responsibilities Technical & Engineering

• Develop civil engineering standards and maintenance strategies
• Review and approve engineering designs and drawings
• Identify infrastructure risks, deviations, and improvement opportunities
• Lead technical investigations and root-cause analyses
• Develop scopes of work and project charters
• Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements
• Oversee construction quality and execution

Asset Integrity & Sustainability

• Create renewal roadmaps for long-term infrastructure sustainability
• Recommend monitoring and advanced engineering analyses
• Support asset maintenance management practices

Project & Financial Management

• Monitor project budgets, forecasts, and cash flow
• Support cost estimation and project planning
• Ensure engineering scopes align with project costs

Leadership

• Supervise engineers, technicians, and contractors
• Drive knowledge sharing and team development
• Manage team performance and safety compliance
• Translate operational requirements into engineering strategies

Stakeholder & Contractor Management

• Manage external consultants and service providers
• Maintain strong contractor relationships
• Provide technical support during construction phases

Minimum Requirements Education: Bachelor's Degree / BTech in Civil Engineering
Experience: 5+ years in a construction or heavy industrial environment
Preferred Registration: Professional registration with Engineering Council of South Africa Important Technical Themes
