IT Infrastructure Consultant (Internal Vacancy) - (8692) Job Purpose The IT Infrastructure Consultant support role is responsible for providing operational and technical support to the institution’s ICT infrastructure. The incumbent works under the guidance and supervision of the Senior IT Infrastructure Support to ensure the availability, reliability, and effective functioning of desktop, server, network, and Microsoft 365 services that support teaching, learning, research, and administrative activities.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Relevant National Diploma, or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or Computer Systems.
At least 2 years’ experience in an IT support or infrastructure support environment.
Experience providing desktop, laptop, printer, and end‑user support.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 services, including Exchange Online, Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint Online.
Experience working in a service desk or client support environment will be an advantage.
Entry-level or foundational certifications (e.g. Microsoft, CompTIA, ITIL Foundation) will be an advantage.
Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities
Provide first- and second-level support for IT infrastructure and end‑user systems under guidance from Senior Infrastructure Support.
Support the administration and day‑to‑day operation of Microsoft Office 365 services at user and operational level.
Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot desktops, laptops, printers, and peripheral devices.
Log, monitor, and resolve ICT incidents and service requests in accordance with defined procedures and SLAs.
Escalate complex or unresolved issues to Senior Infrastructure Support when required.
Assist with routine infrastructure maintenance, upgrades, and deployments.
Support computer laboratories, offices, and teaching venues to ensure operational readiness.
Maintain accurate technical records, asset registers, and documentation.
Comply with ICT policies, security standards, and operational procedures.
Provide professional, customer-focused support to staff and students.
End‑user computing, desktop support, and Microsoft 365 operational support.
Installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of hardware, software, and user devices.
Incident and request management aligned to IT service management practices.
Basic infrastructure support including Windows Server, Active Directory, and monitoring.
Networking fundamentals knowledge (LAN/WAN, Wi‑Fi, printers, peripherals).
Strong troubleshooting, fault‑finding, and problem‑resolution skills.
Effective communication with ability to simplify technical issues for non‑technical users.
Adherence to procedures, documentation standards, and appropriate escalation processes.
Strong customer focus, collaboration, professionalism, and accountability.
Time management, attention to detail and adaptability.
