Overview A leading renewable energy solutions provider is seeking a

Solar Design Engineer

to join its growing technical team. The role focuses on the design, optimisation, and technical support of commercial and industrial solar PV systems, with exposure to end‑to‑end project delivery.

This is an excellent opportunity for a detail‑oriented Engineer who is passionate about clean energy and wants to contribute to high‑impact solar projects across South Africa.

Key Responsibilities

Design grid‑tied and hybrid solar PV systems for commercial and industrial applications

Perform site assessments, shading analysis, and system performance simulations

Prepare technical drawings, single‑line diagrams, and layout designs

Select and size PV modules, inverters, mounting systems, and balance‑of‑system components

Ensure that designs comply with relevant standards and regulations (SANS, NRS, and municipal requirements)

Provide technical support during project procurement, installation, and commissioning

Collaborate with project managers, installers, and sales teams to ensure seamless delivery

Education

Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering or a related field

Solar PV certifications will be advantageous

Job Experience&Skills Required

2–5 years' experience in solar PV system design

Experience with commercial and industrial solar projects

Proficiency in PV design software (PVsyst, Helioscope, AutoCAD or similar)

Strong understanding of SANS, NRS, and municipal electrical regulations

Ability to prepare technical drawings and system documentation

Valid driver’s licence
