Jem is hiring a Customer Data Coordinator based in Cape Town or Johannesburg. This is a hands‑on, detail‑driven role at the centre of how Jem delivers for its customers.
Jem is a fast‑growing HR tech scale‑up building tools for frontline teams, now supporting just under 200,000 frontline employees across South Africa.
In this role, you’ll work directly with customer data, keeping it clean, accurate and flowing smoothly through our systems. You’ll support the customer experience by resolving queries, processing client information and helping maintain the integrity of the data our product relies on. You’ll also play a role inshaping how AI is embedded into data workflows, helping the team move faster and reduce manual effort.

Customer data is clean, accurate and processed on time.
Client queries are resolved quickly and with care.
Batch payments, invoicing and reconciliations are handled reliably.
Manual data workflows are steadily replaced by AI‑assisted processes.
Internal teams trust the data you manage and the systems you maintain.
What You’ll Do Customer care and data management
Assist customers by answering questions on the phone, via email and WhatsApp, helping them understand and get the most from Jem's product.
Use internal tools and databases to resolve queries and process client data.
Process and maintain customer data, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Become a Jem product expert and support the team with product‑related queries.
Provide feedback and recommendations to the product team based on customer interactions.
User research
Work closely with the product team to conduct user research through interviews, phone calls and surveys.
Process improvement and AI integration
Identify repetitive data management workflows that can be handed over to AI, reducing manual oversight.
Help build and maintain AI agents that continuously monitor data integrity and flag anomalies.
Use AI tools to monitor system queues and predict which client files are at risk of breaching SLAs.
Document and update customer data processes and guides.
Administration
Process batch payments.
Reconcile advances and invoice clients.
Collect client testimonials.

Requirements Minimum Requirements
1– 3 years’ experience in data coordination, customer support, operations or a related role.
Based in Cape Town or Johannesburg.
Strong attention to detail and comfort working with data.
Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
Comfortable learning new tools and systems quickly.
Nice to Have
Experience in SaaS, HR tech or fintech.
Familiarity with Excel/Google Sheets and data handling.
Exposure to AI tools or an eagerness to learn.
Experience in a start‑up or scale‑up environment.
