Assist veterinarians in the practice of veterinary medicine and surgery and other tasks as needed. Assist with outpatient exams by taking histories, vital signs, and weights, and providing client education. Prepare patients for surgery and monitor vital signs during surgery. Obtain samples (blood, stool, etc.); perform in-hospital laboratory testing and prepare specimens for outside laboratories.Take, develop, and maintain radiographs following proper safety procedures. Provide basic animal handling and restrain animals during exams. Administer and monitor medications, anesthesia, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian. Clean and organize exam rooms, treatment and lab areas; restock supplies; assist other team members to keep public areas clean; maintain all medical equipment.Demonstrate warmth, courtesy, and professionalism in all client and patient interactions. Communicate with veterinarians and team members about client discussions, patient plans, and concerns. Other duties as assigned. Requirements/Qualifications

State license to work as a certified/licensed/registered veterinary technician (as appropriate for the state of employment). Ability to lift patients and equipment up to 25 pounds; with assistance for heavier lifts. Practice OSHA safety techniques including proper PPE. Basic computer skills; familiarity with MS Office applications.Basic math and ability to calculate medication dosages. Strong communication skills to ensure patient safety. Pay Range

USD $22.00 - USD $26.00 /Hr.
