Facility Manager at Virgin Active South Africa 2026– Bloemfontein Type FULL TIME

Job Overview Virgin Active South Africa (Pty) Ltd is seeking a Facility Manager for its Bloemfontein club. This permanent, full‑time role involves overseeing preventive and reactive maintenance of fitness equipment, pool systems, HVAC, water systems and overall club infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out preventive maintenance on fitness equipment, swimming pool/spa systems, HVAC, hot and cold‑water systems, saunas, steam rooms and general building assets.

Respond to reactive maintenance requests logged in the maintenance&Health&Safety job book.

Handle emergency repairs promptly.

Upskill on‑site maintenance operators/technicians.

Coordinate contractor requests with the Club General Manager and Regional Facility Manager.

Escalate unresolved issues to senior management.

Ensure compliance with Virgin Active policies, health&safety standards and brand standards.

Conduct health&safety audits and maintain related documentation.

Manage utility consumption and investigate high water/electricity usage.

Assist the Club General Manager with various maintenance budgets (premises, plant, pools, water hygiene, grounds, consumables, H&S, society expenses).

Act as Head of Department, support club teams and foster a collaborative environment.

Requirements

Advanced technical qualification (e.g., NQF Level 5‑7) relevant to facilities maintenance.

2‑3 years proven maintenance experience, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC and plant equipment.

Strong understanding of health&safety regulations.

Ability to work independently and manage maintenance costs.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

People‑management and communication skills.

Adaptability, curiosity, a winning mentality and a growth mindset.

Knowledge of equipment such as chillers, cooling towers, BMS, water treatment, steam generators, saunas, pumps, valves and related systems.
